A Global Community Investing in Transformative Futures

Uniting founders, investors, policy leaders, and cultural voices committed to people-and-planet positive growth

Our Mission

A community unlocking transformation for Frontier Markets — with evidence, speed, and scale.

Accelerating sustainable growth through rigorous research, stakeholder dialogue, and innovative financial design. TPDG connects researchers, policymakers, and investors to generate policy-grade evidence, and drive practical investment action across infastructure, agriculture, climate finance, and economic governance.

As an active and collaborative platform, we support governments, development finance institutions, and private actors in making evidence-based, financially-structured decisions that serve not just today’s needs, but the positive growth of future generationns.

What We Do

Six integrated platforms driving systemic change

TPDG operates through complementary platforms — a foundation for independent research and dialogue, and an advisory arm for financial and policy innovation — working in concert to deliver measurable, and sustained impact.

TPDG Research & Analytics

Rigorous applied research generating investor-grade data on energy systems, agricultural productivity, and economic transitions. Our analysis translates field realities into evidence that policymakers and capital providers can act on.

TPDG Commons

High-level convenings, roundtables, and working groups where ministers, DFI leaders, researchers, and private sector actors across the world shape evidence-grounded policy. We design processes that move from conversation to commitment.

TPDG Capital & Insights Lab

Bond index design, carbon credit platforms, blended finance structuring, and MRV infrastructure. We build the financial architecture that channels institutional capital into development-grade opportunities across the continent.

TPDG Consulting

Direct advisory to governments and development institutions navigating complex energy transitions, agricultural investment strategies, and fiscal reform — combining systems thinking with financial precision for faster, better decisions.

TPDG Foundation

Independent grants, fellowships, and public goods research that underpins everything we do. The Foundation ensures TPDG's intellectual independence and our sustained commitment to long-horizon, locally-rooted knowledge production.

Knowledge Partnerships

Collaborative programmes with global universities, zonal think tanks, international research institutions, and diaspora networks — building the continent-wide analytical ecosystem that local development demands.

Our Approach

From evidence to capital — a vertically integrated systems process

TPDG’s methodology moves seamlessly from research to policy to financial design — ensuring insights do not gather dust but become instruments of transformation.

The Principles of TPDG

We operate on four commitments: Global intellectual leadership, systems-level thinking, financial innovation as a development tool, and evidence that serves the overlooked. Every output is measured against these standards.

The TPDG Process

We begin with deep contextual research, convene inclusive stakeholder processes, generate policy-grade modelling, and translate outputs into financial instruments and institutional decisions — closing the loop between knowledge and capital.

Catalytic Productivity

Development challenges demand not incremental improvement but catalytic transformation using a global approach. TPDG identifies leverage points — in policy, in finance, in data — where targeted intervention unlocks outsized, system-wide change.

Guiding Principles

Four commitments that define how we work

Principle 01

Global & Local Intellectual Leadership

Development futures must be designed and grounded in local context, and led by local institutions. TPDG works with donors and external partners, but refuses analysis that lacks local embeddedness — research conducted on communities rather than with them, producing reports without building the institutional capacity or ownership required for lasting change. We build intellectual authority from the inside out.

Principle 02

Systems Thinking, Not Siloed Interventions

Development challenges are interconnected. Energy is inseparable from agriculture, climate, fiscal capacity, and governance. TPDG brings the full system into view — applying  design thinking to policy to identify the upstream interventions that reshape entire landscapes.

Principle 03

Finance as a Development Instrument

Capital is not a constraint — it is a design problem. TPDG structures innovative financial instruments that connect institutional capital to development impact: bond indices tracking agricultural resilience, MRV systems enabling carbon market access, blended finance vehicles calibrated for local risk realities.

Principle 04

Evidence in Service of the Overlooked

Rigorous evidence must ultimately serve those most marginalised by ineffective development systems: smallholder farmers locked out of finance, youth excluded from formal labour markets, communities bearing the costs of climate vulnerability without accessing transition opportunities. This is our north star.

Impact by design, not by chance.
